Content Creator & Journalist
ABOUT ME
I am an enthusiastic and driven journalism graduate from Edinburgh Napier University. I have been involved with the media since I was 16 when I worked at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow 2014, gathering quotes from hockey athletes.
Following this, I spent four years studying and gained vital work experience at Sky Sports News, the Daily Record, Sunset+Vine, and Radio Forth.
After a successful period in a volunteer role as Hibernian Football Club's Social Media Manager for the women's side, in December 2019 I moved to a full-time position as Communications Assistant, focusing on content for the Men’s side.
In May 2021, I was employed into a full time position as Content Executive at Everton Football Club. In this role I am responsible for content output for the club's women's side across various social channels and website. I also help contribute to men's Premier League fixture coverage when it does not clash with Women's Super League matches.

EDUCATION
First Class Honours
BA (Hons) Journalism - Edinburgh Napier University
From 2015 to 2019, I spent four years learning the key skills to become a multimedia journalist. I learned how to present on camera and on live radio, learnt new video editing skills using AVID editing software, and built up a network of contacts with sports journalists in Scotland.

During my studies, I took on leading roles and responsibilities on various modules. Some of these roles included the following:
-
Online sports editor
-
Television sports presenter
-
Television sports reporter
-
Television producer
-
Magazine section editor

EVERTON FOOTBALL CLUB
Content Executive
In May 2021, I joined Everton Football Club as a Content Executive, leading on output for the women's team. I also assist with coverage for the men's senior and under-21s sides.

My first full season that was one that presented new challenges that I had not experienced in my career to date.

Navigating tone and level of output was difficult due to managerial changes during the season. However, it highlighted the importance of providing strong content when victories were earned and showcasing the players' efforts that went into achieving the results.

Although it was a difficult season, the experience I took from that season I believe helped to develop me into a stronger journalist and content creator. Personally, reporting on the 3-2 comeback in the Premier League against Crystal Palace is one of my career highlights so far.

During my time with the Merseyside club, I have played a significant role increasing social media following. For example, on Instagram (@EvertonWomen) followers have more than doubled since my appointment.
HIBERNIAN FOOTBALL CLUB
Communications Assistant & Media and Operations Officer
At the end of 2019, I was employed in a paid role working for one of Scotland's biggest clubs.

My first season was cut short due to COVID-19, which itself brought new challenges to deliver media content during lockdown to keep supporters engaged. A unique and challenging time to work but one I felt I came out stronger in my video editing and content production.

During the course of the 2020/21 season, I moved to the Hibernian Community Foundation to lead their communications. My responsibilities include promoting project initiatives across social media with articles and video content.
However, in this new role my work with the club continued as I assisted to facilitate press conferences, produce video packages shown on Hibs TV's 'The Match' and help with media operations on a matchday.

ENRG
Assistant Station Manager, ENRG Sport writer and Radio Presenter
During third year of university I was appointed two new roles at Radio ENRG. The first is that I contribute content for ENRG Sport, a branch of the ENRG brand where students from Napier can showcase some of their written, video and audio content to a fast growing audience.
The second is my appointment of Assistant Station Manager for Radio ENRG. In this role, I am responsible for the production and progression of the ENRG network as I aim to make the station as successful as possible up until I graduate in July 2019.
I also produced a football show called 'The Football Round Up’. Myself and a pundit panel recap and discuss the previous and upcoming fixtures in the Scottish and English leagues.
During my time working on the ENRG Sport, I interviewed sporting personalities such as Eilidh Barbour, David Tanner, and regularly attended press conferences for Scotland Rugby, Hibernian and Hearts.

WORK EXPERIENCE
Below you can find details of my work experience spent with various news outlets. These experiences have played a significant part of my development as a journalist.

Each organisation I spent a placement with are required to complete a feedback form on my performance. You can read their feedback via the link.

SKY SPORTS NEWS
Journalist
From the 20th of November to the 1st of December 2017, I was fortunate enough to work with the Sky Sports News team in London. It was a surreal experience, one that I thoroughly enjoyed.
During my time, I worked within several departments. In the planning department, I researched and wrote potential questions for reporters who were sent out for interviews and press conferences. I also pitched ideas and suggestions regarding the promotion of matches that were live exclusively on Sky Sports.
With the digital team, I produced and uploaded six articles onto their website. Examples of which can be found listed below. This was a great experience as it familiarised myself with the style articles are written and what software is used to upload said articles.
The production team allowed me to create and edit graphics that would go live during Sky Sports News broadcasts. I also managed to familiarise myself with their video editing software, creating several pieces while with the team.
For my final two days, I went to the managerial press conferences for Mauricio Pochettino of Tottenham Hotspur and Antonio Conte of Chelsea. Having been to press conferences with Hearts and Hibernian in the past, it was beneficial for myself to see how press conferences function in England for comparison. During the Chelsea conference I was fortunate enough to put forward a question regarding Manchester City’s league form and if they can be stopped. You can listen back to my question and Conte's answer via the linked page.
The entire team made me feel very welcome and I hope that I can return down to London in the near future to spend more time with the team if possible.

I have also spent some time with the Sky Sports team based in Glasgow. I helped contribute ideas for potential match build up for SPFL fixtures live on Sky Sports and also shadowed reporter, Luke Shanley as we attended several press conferences.

DAILY RECORD
Freelance Reporter
After spending three weeks work experience with the Daily Record’s sports desk (March & July/August 2018), I was appointed on a freelance basis to cover League One and Two football in the Edinburgh region.

While in the office I spent time interviewing football managers over the phone, writing up articles that would be published the following day. I also spent several days shadowing reporters as they attended press conferences for teams such as Celtic and Rangers.
Most notably, I accompanied two of the Daily Record's sports reporters as we attended the captains day event at Hampden for the launch of the new SPFL season. I was trusted to sit with reporters from various outlets as we interviewed players such as Christophe Berra and Kris Boyd. These articles were then published by the newspaper outlet in the days that proceeded the event.
RADIO FORTH
Journalist
I spent four days (30th of May to 2nd of June, 2017) with Radio Forth's news team.
During my time there I helped out writing news bulletins, recorded vox pops with members of the public regarding the build up to the general election and went to Hearts Football Club's press conference which had Director of Football, Craig Levein speak to the press.
I also managed to record several radio bulletins for my own experience each day I was there, gaining feedback from my supervisor on how to improve.
You can find one of these recorded bulletins attached below.

YOUTH FOOTBALL SCOTLAND
Freelance Journalist
I worked on a voluntary basis for Youth Football Scotland. In this role, I wrote match reports which include selecting a 'Magic Moment' and 'Star Player' for both the home and away side.
I also assisted with video coverage at the games I reported on, interviewing the coaches and players to obtain their views on the match. These interviews are often uploaded to Youth Football Scotland's Facebook page and can be seen on the DVD highlight reel that is sold by the organisation.
My involvement also extends to their 'YFS Live' show which is broadcast via Facebook Live. During the series of shows, I have assisted both behind and in front of the camera by welcoming the panel of guests to the office and during the broadcast of the show, selecting questions from the audience to forward onto the panel of guests to answer.

INFOSTRADA SPORTS
Flash Quote Reporter - Commonwealth Games 2014
During the summer of 2014, I worked for Infostrada Sports (now known as Gracenote) to help report on the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
My assigned sport was hockey. I would watch several matches each day, taking notes throughout, then travel down to the mix zone near the end of the match. From there I would interview several players, gathering quotes which I would then type up in the media centre and send off to the main hub of the network.
These quotes would then be accessible via a subscription service for news networks to include in their own articles.
THE ARDROSSAN &Â SALTCOATS HERALD
Football Reporter
Over the course of the 2014/15 season, I followed and reported on junior football side, Kilbirnie Ladeside. I wrote match reports and conducted player and manager interviews.
My work would then be published the following Wednesday in the local paper.
This was a great experience as it allowed me to build on the interviewing skills I gained while at the Commonwealth Games. It also taught me how to write a match report and how I must be alert throughout the duration of the game. Noting the memorable events to write up following the conclusion of the match.
